Hi all.
Does anyone know anything about Fischer Storage Heaters?
Someone asked me if a quote from them seemed ok, its to remove 2 Storage heaters and install 4 of these heaters in a top floor flat and it came to £6000+VAT.
Obviously haven't seen the job, have been told loft is empty so access may be ok but I can only assume even with adding a new CU and circuits the heaters are really expensive?
Are these things really efficient as I have fitted some of those so called cheap to run oil filled rads before that were just glorified panel heaters.
Apparently they can be run on a 13a socket and have a clay core but cannot see how this would be cheap to run on a 24/7 tariff?
Suggested they maybe go for a Dimplex Duo quote but maybe there is something fantastic with these Fischer heaters?

All electric heaters are 100% efficient. There is nowhere else for the energy to go.
Fischer adverts bend the truth and their products are very expensive. That is the only thing fantastic about them, the price.
Obviously running a 100% efficient heater on a 24/7 tariff is going to cost a lot more than running a 100% efficient heater on a econ 7 tariff.
I believe Fischer have been subject to a trading standards investigation a while back.

The quote was for £6000+VAT to supply and fit their heaters.
I had a few dealings with Kalarel a while back and these were very expensive to run and probably why they went bust.
A lot of these type of things seem to have a lot of info about how they are better than all the rest with some kind of fantastic heating element or design that convects heat better than the rest but all seem to work the same.

Haven't been asked to quote for it.
Its one of those friend of a colleague at my wife's workplace who knows I'm a electrician kind of deals so wondered what I thought.
Have suggested that they get other quotes and see what they are like.
I cant see that fitting 4 heaters would be 6K if wiring was straightforward but maybe its not.

they do look a bit more like a normal rad which is a positive, I have installed them when a customer once had their heart set on them, the heat is nice, they can be fairly controllable and he is happy with them, I do have another customer who already had some fitted about 5 years ago and rekons they are good,

they are also available from electrorad same heaters but different brand label on the front!
