56 Volts on usb Socket

Hi All

Has anyone come across Earth Leakage on a usb Socket the appliance being plugged in is live

Its testing the outer casein of the appliance plugged in to the usb. You can feel the voltage

What is this USB outlet, a charger or fixed accessory?

It's was charging a Fitbit watch but it doesn't matter what you charge. If you put a volt meter one end on the metal strap on the watch on charge and the other on a earthing point your get 56 Volts

I've had it for years. But this isn't the only device I charged a metal torch and the torch casing also become live. I can feel the voltage it's enough for you to want to move your hand away. At the Weekend I will take it apart

Yes it is. Not sure of the brand. I will find out this weekend when I dismantle

Sounds like it isn't fully isolating the mains side.

Yeah seems that way. I just got home the socket is an MK Which is very surprising. Technically the voltage is above what would be considered dangerous, I will update with some pictures over the weekend

Could just be ac coupling from the primary.
Potential with very little current.

Can you test the integrity of the earthing connection?

Possibly I will have a look at this. It will be interesting to find out what's allowing the voltage through. I might also contact MK to ask if they come across this problem
