Not sure what to do here. I am wiring detectors for someone, boiler is in a small cupboard in the bathroom. Too small to fit the detector as it won’t be 1-3m away & I can’t fit it in the bathroom. What’s best, to fit it outside the bathroom? Stupid place to have a bloody boiler!

Carbon monoxide detector doesn’t have to be mains powered or interconnected with smokes afaik.

Use a battery one and put it in bathroom.

How well ventilated is bathroom regarding windows and forced ventilation?

Does it say that in the MI?

Not debating, it’s very likely… but the MI will tell you for sure.
I'm now wondering how many CO alarms you have incorrectly installed

BS EN 50292:2023 would be my source of information and not the MI although all the MI's I have seen exclude bathrooms or areas with a high humidity level.
Given that the CO detector contains an electrochemical sensor it is understandable why they are not suitable for bathrooms and are more likely to give false alarms if installed in such rooms

Like I say, I wasn’t arguing the point… you’re probably right…. But I wondered what MI would say.

I have never fitted a co detector in a bathroom, as I’ve never come across a boiler in a bathroom…

I tell a lie. We used to get static caravans with boiler in a cupboard in the bathroom…. But I can’t remember now where the detector was located.

Unfortunately my boiler is in the bathroom. Whoever had the house before me did some DIY frame and doors. Fortunately it meant I could fit a battery powered detector at the very top opposite the boiler wall.
