Discuss Good Morning Thread - Come say good morning, tell us what you've got on today. :) in the The Electrical Exchange area at ElectriciansForums.net

We have this thread on TilersForums.com and it's just been restarted because the old thread had 20,000 replies and 500,000 views. And there were 700 pages. Started to lag a bit on slow connections.

I think we had a bash of this before, but I can't find the thread, so thought I'd start another one off.

If you have time in the mornings, come post in the thread before you head off to work, let us know what you've got on and what the weather is like in your area etc. Anything at all is fine. :)

Posts and likes get counted towards your total stats in this thread.

So GOOOD MORNING PEOPLE - WEATHER IS NICE TODAY IN STOKE. I'M THANKFUL IT'S FRIDAY, HAD A RUBBISH WEEK. THANK GOD IT'S OVER.

In 40 years of adult life mainly in London and working at middle class to high end homes / clients. I have seen easily MORE bad landlords than tenants . And so many of these landlords have a few things in Common .But thats all 'wacist " etc .
Seems to be the other way round up here.

The landlords do their best… if there’s a problem, they get it fixed… not bending over backwards to avoid their responsibilities.
I’m sure there are some bad eggs… but the dodgy tenants outnumber the dodgy landlords.

my son's landlord had a "new" bathroom fitted for him. he would not employ a plumber or barthroom fitter, but got his brother ( who is "handy") to bodge in a new bath and tiles. 3 months without a working bathroom, still not finished 2 years later, wooden door frame rotted. gues what...land lord originates from somewhere between India and Afghanistan.

Travelling west to east or east to west?

I remember one of my tenants complaining about a leak from the shower, I investigated and told them I needed to get a part in the morning and not to use the shower, on returning the next morning they had flooded the kitchen by using the shower and where now complaining about the kitchen cupboards being wet and the electrics kept tripping, I told then the place was now dangerous and they needed to move out.

My daughters had a faint positive line on her lateral flow yesterday. Much better than the solid line she’s had on previous days, so fingers crossed she’s negative today, and negative tomorrow, she can then stop isolating.

My uncles funeral this afternoon, so not working this morning… need to catch up on paperwork.

Need to contact a few more customers to inform them of delays in getting battery heat detectors.
I don’t know if Fireangel, kidde etc are suffering the same shortages as Aico??

Hopefully!

My condolences for that :(

No idea. Last time I was chatting to the guys in Holland House they had kind of given up on Fireangel after many of returns and many of the sparks concentrating on Aico instead.

Another assessment for smokes etc this morning, and another booked in for tomorrow morning, and several quotes accepted...but shortages mean no installations for a few weeks. Not sure of the likely dates for my orders to arrive, it seems to vary every time I place an order! So far, my usual supplier has a big wodge of my money but I have no units. Also, CO detectors in equally short supply, and limited to 2 per customer! I would need to do multiple orders on my account and hope they allowed me 2 per "my" customer, not just 2 for me.
It's madness. could have dome dozens during lockdown, and now I have a backlog due to low supplies, and for other reasons I need to get these nailed by April.
I'm going to suggest to the next folks that they just order the battery ones, stick them up with sticky pads themselves, and buy COs as and when.

i feel left out. only had 3 jabs, but they do work. i had covid last week. done the 5 day isolation, now negative. was no big deal just felt like shyte for a couple of days. ( mostly due to not being able to go to the pub 🤣🤣).

@westward10 Did not know there was a forth one available, is this county specific?
It is for people with underlying health issues who are extremely vulnerable. My third dose was not a booster it was part of my treatment but the fourth is a booster who knows how many more I will get.

It’s been a funny old week so far.

It’s half term school holidays, so the plan was for us to take my parents to aviemore to a lodge… as a holiday, as my dad has lost both his brothers in less than 6 months…..

Last Saturday night, we were in our home town where our middle daughters artwork was being projected onto the town hall. A collection of local works on a 12 minute loop, and as her dad, got to say hers was best.

Sunday morning…. My wife tests positive for covid on her lateral flow…. The rest of us are negative. Due to that and the weather forecast for rest of the week…. We decide aviemore is a no no.

PCR results came back today, she’s positive… we’re still negative…

I’m working my way through smoke detector jobs that I had planned for next week, but now we’re not going anywhere, I may as well get out the house and let her isolate.

Looks like I timed it well. It's half term next week here in Wales and I'll be back up in Scotland out of the way.

Lazy morning here, but getting myself scrubbed up for this afternoon's grand event...
a belated Christmas Lunch for my local branch of the Men's Shed. Christmas jumper looked out, special festive socks too!

This is just a test of 25 characters

Sorry, wrong post, I appear to be having difficulty accessing the forum and adding comments today, some comments are just being rejected when I try to post.

Nice neat DB. I couldn't have all my tools sat in that mud though - I'd have to put a bit of wood down or something.
Hope it's good enough for the NICEIC inspection in a few days... Tried that, in the end I just gave up as everything was filthy. We were trying to work off of pallets put down but they were getting in the way. Cleaned the tools when I got home.

@littlespark Nice picture of the onion town, I used to frequent it a lot in the early 80s when I went out with a girl from there, not been back for years.
It’s my home town, was just a kid in the early 80’s though. My parents still live there, as do the in-laws.
I’m there 2 or 3 times a week with jobs, visiting and taking middle kid ice skating.

Typical. As soon as I posted my last “weather update” the skies darkened, the wind picked up and the 7 mile drive back home, the temperature dropped from 6 to 3 degrees.

It is now snowing/ sleeting and I’ve been out and tied me wheelie bins down, sport…. Tied me wheelie bins down.

Yep it's took a turn for the worse here as well. (In Yorkshire - a bit south of most of you!)

Still trying to get over what was on tv last night.
Was watching Gogglebox, and near the end they showed clips of Pam And Tommy that’s showing on Disney Plus….

If you’ve seen it, you’ll know what I mean….

Tommy Lee is being played by Sebastian Stan from the Marvel films….

I don’t think I can watch The Winter Soldier in the same light ever again.

😳

Kids back to school today after half-term, and on a Tuesday, I take them in as one of them is carrying a heavy musical instrument… so after dropping them off, I headed to a job that’s ongoing… (the one with an old MEM board that’s mentioned in another thread)
The garden was full of dog crap… had to watch where I was walking…. and while I was there, the fairly large dog sneaked into the kitchen and shat on the floor.

Lovely.

So, I just packed up and came away. Can’t work in that.

💩💩💩🤢

Well, I'm back up in Scotland. Hunterston again. Up here until Sunday then drive down to Southampton for Monday morning

Good deed for the day.
Headed into town to the bank because one of my elderly customers paid by cheque… I photographed it into my banking app, and they ignored a text from their bank to validate it.
It went into my account, and came straight back out again….

I digress.

On the street, near the bank, I came across a rather fat wallet on the pavement… quick glance, no one about that could have dropped it…so I picked it up, and honestly, I took it to the police station.
They had a quick look… 10 quid, drivers license and a hell of a lot of store cards, loyalty cards, family photos… no wonder it looked fat.

80hrs without electricity, we now have hot water and heating Hooray.
Quick update, electricity went off again yesterday for eight hours, why do they do that during the day and just as your are preparing Lunch back up into the loft to get the gas ring out again, power came back on overnight.

I have woken up this morning with a bit of a bad back. Had trouble last night, but woke at 2am, couldn’t sleep couldn’t move. Can hardly climb into the van… so it’s a day of picking up stock and delivering invoices… was supposed to be up a ladder, but that ain’t happening

Sorry to hear that @littlespark

I'm also in the rubbish-sleep camp, but that is due to having COVID and resulting cough keeping from sleeping well :(

Seems I drew the short straw, as only one of the group out that caught it (one friend's BF found they had it next day) and work mates have been fine, even though I'm vaccinated. Not too bad in other ways (feels like bad cold sort of thing), just the rubbish sleep getting to me.

I had to wear a BP monitor for 24hrs a few days ago, the thing pumps up every 10mins and takes a reading, no way I could sleep with that on, next comes the heart rate monitor, I have to wear that for forty eight hours, now that will be fun. 😱
