Discuss Good Morning Thread - Come say good morning, tell us what you've got on today. :) in the The Electrical Exchange area at ElectriciansForums.net

We have this thread on TilersForums.com and it's just been restarted because the old thread had 20,000 replies and 500,000 views. And there were 700 pages. Started to lag a bit on slow connections.

I think we had a bash of this before, but I can't find the thread, so thought I'd start another one off.

If you have time in the mornings, come post in the thread before you head off to work, let us know what you've got on and what the weather is like in your area etc. Anything at all is fine. :)

Posts and likes get counted towards your total stats in this thread.

So GOOOD MORNING PEOPLE - WEATHER IS NICE TODAY IN STOKE. I'M THANKFUL IT'S FRIDAY, HAD A RUBBISH WEEK. THANK GOD IT'S OVER.

aw how sad. Still at least if you go when you're on holiday you're hopefully happy and contented.

What a shame...

Had many a happy holiday in a caravan some of them these days are like mini mansions, so posh!!

@Dan and @Rockingit have been having visions of this pizza all week! Does it work with 00 flour?
It does! ‘00’ is basically the fineness of how much the flour gets ground - it’s a staple of anything Italian. I use it for making pasta rather than dough as the difference is minimal (and ‘00’ tends to be more expensive in the U.K.) but the gluten content is about the same.

Always. 1) kids love cooking and this if fun because you can actually watch the dough rise and 2) it’s healthier as there’s no preservative additives. Mine is now 13 and too cool to talk to Dad but wind back the clock and she absolutely loved getting covered in flour!

My other half like this sort of stuff.

Luckily for her I like eating 😄

I’m working today at the funeral place. Just got to get it done before things start warming up in the fridge.

Didn’t help that CEF gave me the wrong size of RCBO. Had to go back yesterday to swap one over. Glad I noticed, as I wouldn’t like to have left the big lights on a 32A when they’re currently 10.

(I wouldn’t have done that… I would have doubled up another 10 with little on it until I changed it)

Dropping off Number 2 on the way, for her first stint of overtime at ger new job. She’s enjoying it. Seems to be a good bunch of people.

I’m going to stop calling my daughters numbers 1,2 and 3…..

What about The Old One, The Middle One And the Little One?

Use their initials? J, R and H?

🤷‍♂️
My brother and I are known as No.1 and No.2 by our dad. We’re convinced he’s brain trained himself that way so as to not have to feel bad when in later-later life if he can’t remember

Well today, as long as the scaffolding is finished, we'll be disconnecting the LV side of the generator transformer. When I say LV it's not actual LV as it's 21kV but as the other side is 400kV it's refered to as the LV. Weather isn't the best so I doubt if we'll get any cherry picker work done afterwards. Shame 😄

Morning folks. Living the dream as usual 😂. Geneva last week (expensive place), London this week and home for a week next week. How are you all?

All good here! Haven't had chance to make the pizza yet but we are determined to! Maybe try and do it tomorrow afternoon! Forums stop for no one especially @Dan

I did stick one in from the freezer and me and spud had it and it was bloody lovely. Still not a patch on a homemade one though!

Morning everyone, lots of emails to catch up on today!

Just realised it is Easter this weekend! Anyone going away? If so where to etc??

I have seen him about.

Awful news yesterday about that bridge wasn't it? Quite shocking to see. You could see the lights go out on the ship and then loads of black smoke just before it crashed into the bridge. I guess there is no chance of stopping a ship that big and heavy in such a short distance.

Yes I saw all the flashing lights, it is surprising how something like that can happen - it looked like a little nudge but those ships are ginormous. Very sad for the families involved.

I suppose ships were smaller in the 70s so the bridge wasn't designed for the force it took.

Morning all!!

Got some running about to do today - take the mother in law to get the veg for Sunday Dinner and stuff.

Might get some hot cross buns - havent had one in years!!!!

Today should be an easy day. We've finished all the work so just a wander around checking things. Only 1 van allowed on site so need to get that to the car park, sort out everyones tools and then head home. May take the scenic route through Saundersfoot, Wisemans Bridge, Amroth, Pendine and then back on the main roads and M4 back home.

Ooo love them final days. As a tiler it'd be going around everything with a polishing cloth to get grout dust off the tiles.

Don't think breathing that in would have helped my lungs any.

Probably not. Reminds me of when I was night shift maintenance at South Wales Transformers. If the powder coat plant went down we would be in fixing it without masks. I hate to think what I've breathed in 🤢

Sitting at maccies for breakfast. Just paid my CEF bill. Having a quiet day.

Heading up to aviemore tonight…. Still got to pack.
Haha blokes always leave it to the last minute to pack! I start 3 weeks before gathering stuff. @Dan is a last minute guy.

No breakfast yet for me just a mug of tea!

Morning lads and ladies. Hope you're all loving the sunshiiiiiine (oasis).

Had take my 80 year old mate doctors he had tremors. Thank feck its not parkinsons I never even thought it could be that I thought inhalers but it was an antidepressant I convinced him to take over winter but he's alright to come off them now. I think. Ha

Did loads of tests on his steadiness and lateral arm strength and stuff and he seemed to nail all them.

Thus far 2.5 hrs down on messing about with calls and complaints to HMRC!!........

@Lou - I never fully bother unpacking!! I'm like an expectant mother with a series of go-bags. I generally figure on packing for two weeks at a time in between laundry runs on a longer tour and can throw a pack together in literally five mins if needed.

I saw an engineer online do the maths - the ship weighed roughly 200,000 tons and was travelling at about 9mph - that equates to something like 800,000kN of force!!!

Jesus christ no wonder we didn't get the earth slow down a bit! Or speed up. Was it heading east or west? Lol

Saundersfoot got rained off but did spend some time at Wisemans Bridge watching some dogs and owners getting very wet on the beach. Going back a day, when I left site yesterday I heard a crash in the back of the van. I had forgotten to put some stuff away including a 1/2" drive deep impact socket set. I pulled over and the sockets were all over the floor. I grabbed them and chucked them back in the case but couldn't find the 13mm. Got back to the hotel and searched the van. No sign. On the way out of the site today I thought I would just check where I had pulled over - there it was at the side of the road. Result 😀

No way. I ran hospital today in the rain in a full north staffs hospital car park (renowned for being full). Parked the car half up a grass bank. Got out make sure people could get out. Decided they could and went in. Only wives foot related discussion, my lungs are alright now. Drove home couldn't find phone. Checked obvious pockets etc and wanted get back I had a feeling it was there. Ringing it all the way, got closer and closer and it was face up ringing nobody picking it up all that time. Buggers. But thankfully no half inching either. Was wet but water resistant. Or so they say lol

Result for us both there then. Luck is on our side.

I didn’t leave anything, but driving up to aviemore last night, we stopped at Kinross for a comfort break… I opened the boot to get the dog out for a walk and half the bags fell out.

It’s cold and frosty this morning. We’ll head out for a walk round the site later…..

So, I basically spent lockdown baking. Ish. The entertainment industry was on total stop and whilst I had some big commercial sparky jobs on the go I also had to juggle that with week on/off mini-me and home schooling. Meanwhile, the Aussie (GF) was an essential worker running a chain of animal hospitals on skeleton staff. I quickly realised that she was being the dutiful leader and doing cakes/whatever from various supermarkets every day as thank you encouragement to the staff kind of thing and I pointed out to her that it was a) costing a fortune and b) just filling up her staff with cr4p. So I made the suggestion that instead of that, we took her company credit card and combined it with my wholesalers card, bulk bought a ton of ingredients and I’d just bake instead. It was a win-win - saved her a job every morning, gave me something to do and saved her staff from a heap of processed produce. And it also became a bit of fun because everyday I’d think of a title for something I’d made that was pandemic related - so for example Millionaire Shortbread became ‘Pandemic Politics Biscuits’ and so on. I vaguely recall that one day I titled whatever it was as simply the 0845 number for weight watchers! And on all accounts the staff also loved this and would have guessing games before opening the trays. It was OK at first because the numbers were small, maybe a dozen, but then as the months went by and drip-feed staff numbers returned to normal I was doing 60-70 every day, at which point I stopped as the fun was going. But yeah, I love baking.

Oh - was 2P Friday again today, naturally…. Sorry @Dan

That is an amazing story!!! Your are deffo bake off ready imo! What a lovely thing to use the time and do. Kudos to your gf too! The forgotten key workers.

Today I don't think I'll be up to much. Need to go do a man's shopping who's been in bad health and is 80 but getting well again now. We met him volunteering to collect prescriptions and food parcels for the shielding. He's turned into a wonderful friend, we regard him as family now.

Good morning/ afternoon, first day back after a holiday, lots of washing and tumble drying to do as well as unpacking etc, nice to be home though, we older gits can only keep going away so much 😀

Well you picked a nice day to come back on - we have a lovely sunny day here today! Yesterday we had the heaviest hail storm I have ever seen/heard!

Where have you been? I always think it is nice to be back in your own bed but the back log of washing stinks... sometimes literally too.

Hi Lou, been away to the Caribbean, it was close to 40 C over there at times, glad to be home though, might have a week away again to the canaries maybe later in the year but I always like to come home, apart from the weather the UK is beautiful in places if you know where to look and I will be up in Yorkshire hopefully later in the summer.

Ooh very nice! Yorkshire, my home county!

Just remembered the clocks go forward tonight! Don't forget everyone!!

Good morning everybody!!! Go on who's forgotten to move the clocks?? Luckily these days all our tech does it automatically!!

Anyone had chocolate for breakfast? I've got a white ferrero rocheer egg but I've not opened it yet.

@Rockingit had pizza last night but it was a take away! Off for a lovely lamb dinner later at the mother in law's, they always go down well!

I think Dan was up super late working last night!

I was up at 6.30 (or should that be 7.30) altering all the clocks that don't alter themselves. That was followed by washing the dishes from last night then toast for breakfast. Took all yesterdays washing off the radiators an folded it up. Just about to load the washing machine. The weather looks good enough to hang this lot outside.
Some days I wonder why I have a wife 🤔

Hot cross buns for breakfast… waiting for the chocolate Easter eggs to reduce in price in supermarket before buying any….

Not really. There’s a few at home, but they’re for the kids.

frosty this morning, but sun is out now.

Going home tomorrow, but wondering if we brave the holiday traffic in the afternoon, or leave later on.

I've got a load of washing in myself I was hoping to hang it outside but it seems to be clouding over. Clothes horse it is then!
